Cheap Wedding Venues: How to Find an Affordable Place to Have Your Wedding
Not all weddings have to cost an arm and a leg. For the budget conscious couple, there are cheap wedding venues available which can save a ton of money that can be put to better use elsewhere. Usually the wedding venue is one of the biggest expenses so by cutting down this cost, it’s much easier to stay within budget.
One great way to find cheap wedding venues is to get married in the off season. Wedding season kicks into high gear in the spring and summer months, and continues into much of fall. There are definitely a lot less weddings that take place in the really cold months during the winter. This is actually the best time for you to have your wedding as most venues significantly reduce their rates to get more bookings. Take advantage of the deep discount, it might be a venue you couldn’t otherwise afford during the rest of the year.
Another great tip for booking cheap wedding venues is to have your wedding on a weekday. Everyone chooses to have their wedding on a weekend in order to accommodate the schedule of their guests. Weekend prices are typically a lot more than weekday rates. Having a wedding on a weekday means a lot less people will be able to attend as most of them have jobs to go to Monday through Friday. If you are planning a much more intimate wedding with only your closest friends and family, give them notice ahead of time so they can make the proper arrangements.
Why not try to have an early morning ceremony followed by a reception brunch instead of the usual afternoon ceremony followed by a late night reception. Having the reception at night means that you will have to book the reception venue for the entire night, which will cost a lot more than having the place a few hours for brunch. Not only will the venue be cheaper, so will the catering.
If you created a guest list already, keep in mind that not everyone you invite will be able to make it. When looking for venues, find ones that are just big enough so that if the majority of the people invited respond, there will be enough capacity. The worse thing you can do is overestimate the amount of guests, and then book a venue that is much bigger than you really need.
Cheap wedding venues can also be yours by simply paying the full amount up front. Most couples will leave a down payment when they book the venue and pay the rest at a later date. Who doesn’t want to get paid in full? You can definitely try to negotiate some kind of discount for doing that. Just make sure that you are 100 percent set on the venue and that there is a reimbursement clause in the contract in case something goes wrong.
If you are having a destination wedding, you are most likely able to negotiate a deal with the hotel or resort where the wedding will be at. As long as you can get a certain amount of people to stay there for a specified period of time, they can usually reduce the cost of the venue as well as some of the other items that come with the wedding package.
